Win A Year’s Subscription to Sactown Magazine!

Last Friday we interviewed Sactown Contributing Writer Kate Washington, and we promised to give away a year-long subscription to Sactown magazine. The time has come!
The February/March issue of Sactown featured Kate’s story on Best Breakfasts – her top 10 picks were: Nopalito’s, Tazzina Bistro, 33rd Street Bistro, New Canton, Grange, Roxy, Fox & Goose, The Original Pancake House, Café Bernardo and Tower Café.
Entering to win the subscription is as simple as leaving a comment below with your favorite breakfast hot spot in Sacramento. Did your favorite breakfast spot make Kate’s list? Which one, and why? If it’s not included, tell us what restaurant you’d add to the list, and what keeps you going back for more. Leave your comment by midnight on Wednesday and we will pick a winner at random and announce on Thursday!

I have to agree with the Roxy, Cafe Bernardo and 33rd Street Bistro … BUT, my new favorite place is Hanger 17! Random, I know, but they have a list of Benedicts to choose from. My personal favorite is the California, which is piled high with turkey, avocado, and pico de gallo. … OMG, SO good! And, as if that is not enough to want to go there, they also serve bottom-less mimosas for $5 from 10am-2pm. I mean really, it is just fabulous!

I have to go with Fox and Goose just for the tradition of it. The fruit and yogurt, the atmosphere, the convenient location…

Depends on what kind of breakfast I’m looking for. Bistro 33 is great, Venita Rhea’s in Roseville has great omelets and benedicts, or for a Mexican breakfast I’ll hit up El Azteca.

Tower Cafe…..the French Toast is a slice of heaven on earth!

I love Danielle’s Creperie on Fair Oaks at Watt. You can have a sweet or savory crepe. The Karma crepe with it’s curry flavor is so delicious, and I love the strawberry crepes when strawberries are in season. Yum!

I also like Danielle’s, but usually only go there for lunch. For breakfast, I like Waffle Barn on Fair Oaks Blvd near El Camino.

Either Danielle’s Creperie on K St or L Wine Bar (brunch, really.) That’s assuming I’m awake for breakfast on the weekends. Lucky Cafe and Cornerstone are also pretty good when I’m looking for some serious eggs and bacon.

I love having breakfast outside at Tower Cafe on a beautiful sunny day. You can’t beat their outdoor seating and the food is delicious!

Chorizo con papas at La Placita on Greenback are so, so good!!!
And you can choose mild, medium spicy or hot spicy…
Another find is the Omelette Professor on Antelope and Sunrise,,
Great service and the food was great…I am pretty particular about fried eggs, and they cooked them perfectly ………

I love the pancakes at Cafe Bernardo (the head chef told me that they joke that there’s crack in them people get so hooked) and a big bowl of latte or mocha always hits the spot. The scones, lemon curd, and Guinness are always top notch at Fox and Goose. My most recent love is breakfast at Jim Denny’s. Fun environment, great prices, terrific food at a historic spot. (And the pancakes really are bigger than your head.)

I would go Lucky Cafe or Tower Cafe if going in to downtown Sac. My newest fav is TOAST in Roseville….delish food, awesome ambiance, great all around experience for a lil drive and the complex its in has craft fairs, great lil shops., etc!

Sutter Street Grill in Folsom is a long standing favorite in our home. Toast in Grnaite Bay is a newer find…nice ambiance, great people watching and yummy food!

Agree with alot Kate’s choices, however we also like The Terrace at Town & Country Village. Great atmosphere and consistent perfectly cooked eggs. Have not found any place in town that can do omlettes like they do. This place is a real hidden treasure.

My year-round fave is Karen’s Bakery Cafe in Folsom. Most days of the year you’ll be joining bike enthusiasts from the American River bike trail who gather on her patio for breakfast and beverages. When it’s cold or rainy, Karen’s is the perfect place to warm up — eating at the community table is like gathering in someone’s home for breakfast. Whether I’m in the mood for sweet (plenty of seasonal baked goods in the case) or savory (hearty breakfasts made to order) I always leave happy.

The best place to go is the Cornerstone For the potatoes, everything there is awsome, and you leave full. #2 is the Limelight, the french toast way yummy!

Cafe Bernardo and Tower Cafe are my all time favorites! You can’t beat the vibe at either place and the food is delicious! I always have a great time at both establishments. I also love chorizo, eggs and potatoes in the morning (major “cheat” breakfast!, not available at Cafe Bernardo or Tower Cafe). I just had them at La Rosa Blanca on Fulton and they were to die for! (Note, I had them for dinner tonight… I’m not sure if they are open for breakfast.) Happy eating everyone! Thank you Sac Foodies for an awesome blog!

The Terrace Restaurant located at 2673 El Paseo, Sacto has great breakfast. The Sunday brunch has plenty of food items, including real tasty salmon benedict.
