With St. Patrick’s Day and its Irish-themed celebrations behind us, let’s now shift our focus to perhaps the most American of all American foods: the burger. The burger’s exact origins may be up for debate, but the one thing we know for sure is that a burger is simply an awesome food. All next week, the Sac Foodies will be sharing our favorite places to grab a burger around the Sacramento area.
To get Burger Week started, leave a comment below with the name of your favorite burger place. We will be awarding a free copy of Sacramento’s very own Zagat Restaurant Guide (which lists the Esquire Bar and Grill among the best burger places) to a lucky commenter on Friday, March 27, so be sure to post your pick by midnight Thursday. Who knows – you just might see your favorite burger place in a future review right here on Sac Foodies. Good luck!

Squeeze In with it’s “Saturn Ring of Cheese” and The Counter in Roseville are two of my favorites. The Counter is great because you build your own burger and can control all the ingredients. They even have some toppings that you wouldn’t quite expect!

Yum! Where is the burger in the photo above from? I’m definitely using Burger Week as an excuse to check out Squeeze Inn this weekend – cannot wait!

In my opinion Johnny Rockets used to be the best burger in town until they changed the patties they use. Now they are mediocre at best.
For the best burger in town you have to go to Fuddruckers! The quality of their burgers and produce is outstanding. In addition to fantastic burger they also have a nice variety of Beers and Root Beers to choose from.

Squeeze Inn’s “Squeeze with Cheese” hands down.

I’ve been enjoying the Burger Hut in EDH! Build your own, their secret sauce, great produce – yum!
Also, I am a Willies Fan (Arden location). If you feel like a burger with chili , they have it- go for it, its messy but gooood!

It’s a little out of the way, but Tommy J’s in Davis is a pretty well-kept secret. Operating as Tommy J’s grill during the day and Froggy’s bar at night, this place serves large, tasty burgers that come with awesome curly fries. My favorite is the BBQ Bacon Burger, but they’ve got a great selection to choose from. Tommy J is usually the one in the kitchen, and he often comes out to talk to customers and see how their meal was. Real nice guy, with great tasting burgers.

Yes! I LOVE the burger’s at Froggy’s (Tommy J’s)! There is one with a ton of BBQ sauce and blue cheese – I’ve had it as a chicken sandwich and also as a burger and it was amazing both ways. Glad you brought that up, Chris!

Squeeze In and Sacramento Brewing Company are two of the best. The burgers are totally different styles, but both delicious. Get the bacon cheeseburger at Sac Brew with an order of garlic fries. They cook the meat to order, which is nice for those of us who don’t care for overcooked dried out burgers. Murder Burger (now Redrum) in Davis is also very good, and their fresh fruit milk shakes in summer are delicious.

Don’t forget the nutburger at Sunflower Drive-In (Fair Oaks)

No contest: the Whiskey Burger at Formoli’s Bistro in East Sac.

I am a big fan of the Habit. They have locations in Roseville and Elk Grove that I know of. Super fresh produce, made to order. DELISH!

I’d have to go with Rio City Cafe. I love their burger and sweet potatoe fries! I don’t believe I have had the burger at Esquire, I have to try it now.

My vote is Jasper’s (Rancho Cordova location has been my fav). I still need to visit Squeeze Inn and Nationwide though!!! There should be a Sacramento Burger meet-up group and we could go around checking out the burgers! 🙂
Now the Best Burger of All Time would be from the Triple XXX in W. Lafayette, Indiana (near the Purdue University campus).
