Last Sunday, May 8, marked the kick-off dinner at Spataro Restaurant and Bar for the Paragary Restaurant Group’s new “Charity Uncorked” program. (Kicking myself for missing the rigatoni pasta with Grandma Liz’s four-hour meat sauce!)
The toast-worthy wining and dining initiative runs through October and is a great way to enjoy that bottle of wine you’ve been saving for a special occasion and help out a local charity.
This gist? Bring your vino to any participating PRG restaurant (the impressive lineup includes Paragary’s Bar & Oven, Cosmo Café, Esquire Grill and Spataro Restaurant and Bar) and the group will donate $10 of your corkage fee to the Sacramento Children’s Home.
And due to unprecedented spending cuts, donations to the Home couldn’t come at a better time as the 142-year old non-profit faces a budget shortfall this year of roughly $750,000.
So from now through October, raise a glass to good wine, great food and a simple but effective way to support a local charity.
How cool is that? Cheers!
