Frank Fat’s, Sacramento
My fiancé and I received a gift card from one of our new friends here in town to Frank Fat’s, a local Chinese restaurant. Everyone raved to us that Franks Fat’s is the best Chinese place in town, so we were exited to try it. Three months later we finally found ourselves sitting down to dinner at the midtown location on 8th and L St.
We had heard a lot about the famed political hangout where the storied napkin deal was done. When we pulled up, we were surprised to find a very unassuming storefront. You could easily miss the place driving by. Once we got inside, though, we were delighted by the upscale Asian décor. The ambiance was much more elegant than the average Chinese food restaurant. We scored a great table and ordered a couple drinks. I opted for the pear martini, which was terrific!
Everything looked so great on the menu that we had to ask the waiter for more time at least twice! Finally, he offered to help us and pointed out a few of the best dishes. Following his advice, we started with pot stickers. They had a great flavor and we especially liked the dipping sauces!
For dinner we ordered honey walnut prawns and immigrant beef, two of the house specialties our waiter said we had to try. The beef was very good but the prawns stole the show. They were amazing. The sauce on them was out of this world. In fact, we almost ordered more! You have to try these prawns if you go to Frank Fat’s.
