To celebrate the newly formed Handle District, RADIO 94.7 and Sacramento Magazine have teamed up to sponsor Yelp’s Too Hot to Handle Yelper Party on August 25 at the intersection of 18th St. and Capitol.
“What is the Handle District?” you may ask. In July 2011, the Handle District won city approval to form its own business assessment district, comprised of 28 restaurants and retail businesses in midtown. The Handle District is home to businesses between 17th and 19th streets, and L St. and Capitol.
Free food will be provided by restaurants such as Zocalo, Paesanos and Yogurtagogo; draft beer by Victoria, Model and Negra Modelo; wine options from Domino; and spirits such as Milagro Tequila, Stoli vodka and Sailor Jerry rum. Not to mention, Bassil Karmas will be giving out free massages, and Cuisine Noir Magazine will be there offering gourmet food advice.
Admission is free, and you must be 21 and over. To attend, just create an account on Yelp and RSVP by clicking “I’m in!” on the events page; however, this does not guarantee you entry. After you RSVP, you must wait for the official invitation, as Yelp is taking into account how often one uses and contributes to Yelp.
If you do not often contribute to Yelp, do not give up! I use Yelp for almost everything, but must admit that I am not the biggest contributor; however, I RSVP’d and got the official invitation about a week later. Free food, drinks, entertainment and massages on a beautiful summer day in Sacramento? Might as well throw your name in the hat.
