The festival was founded to help celebrate the national food truck trend and raise awareness about the issues blocking food trucks from thriving in Sacramento. The event is FREE to attend and free valet bike parking will be available to those of you who chose to bike to the event, courtesy of SABA.
Some of the event vendors include: Mini Burger Truck, Spencer on the Go, Sweetface Bakery, Chocolate Fish Coffee, Curry Up Now, Yogurtagogo and Chairman Bro Bun Truck, along with Sacramento taco trucks, a homemade ice cream vendor from Davis, and many more!

31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins!
Today, April 27, Baskin-Robbins is “Scooping Up Thanks” for the men and women of the National Fallen Fire Fighters Foundation (NFFF) from 5pm-10pm by offering 2.5 oz. ice cream scoops of any flavor for just 31 cents* nationwide.
Baskin-Robbins is proud to honor the firefighters that put their life on the line while helping others. The NFFF was created by the United States Congress in 1992 to develop and expand programs to honor fallen fire heroes and assist their families and coworkers. As part of 31 Cent Scoop Night’s annual celebration, The Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation is making a $100,000 donation to support the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
Today, ice cream aficionados can enjoy a new flavor created in honor of 31 Cent Scoop Night–Firehouse #31. This flavor is the perfect blend of hot and cold — a crunchy atomic fireball ribbon laced throughout with hot cinnamon and packed with red hot candy pieces in vanilla ice cream.
Participating neighborhood Baskin-Robbins stores will support their local fire heroes by hosting hometown fire departments during 31 Cent Scoop Night as another way local firefighters can collect donations for their firehouses while joining the community and scooping ice cream for fun! Families can have an opportunity take pictures with their local heroes on the fire truck or talk with them about fire safety.
*The cost of a 2.5 oz. scoop of ice cream (or a 3 oz. Soft Serve cone) from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. on April 27, 2011 will be 31 cents plus applicable tax. To ensure everyone can enjoy 31 Cent Scoop Night, there is a three scoop limit per person.

Picnic Day, UC Davis
It’s that time of the year again! UC Davis’ 97th annual campus-wide open house, Picnic Day, is this Saturday, April 16, 2011. The theme of this year’s Picnic Day is “Rewind” and was chosen with hope that Picnic Day attendees will revive the spirit of the first picnic day in 1909.
Picnic Day at UC Davis is a family-friendly event for all to come and experience the diversity and achievement at UC Davis and the surrounding community in the areas of research, teaching, service and campus life. Picnic Day is a FREE event and open for everyone, no registration required to attend. For the schedule of events, visit the Picnic Day website.
When I was a student at UC Davis, Picnic Day was always one of the most memorable days of the year. It was the best excuse to wake up early and wander around campus with my friends enjoying the exhibits, parties, demonstrations, live music, food, and the crowds of people present on one of the busiest days of the year in Davis.
Of course, the SacFoodies especially love all the great food at Picnic Day! The abundance of food vendors and food-related events available throughout campus are reason enough for us to attend each year. Check out some of our previous SacFoodies Picnic Day posts to learn more.
