Cheese loaf at Rio City Café-please tell me one of you very lucky people who live so close to this heavenly food, has this recipe???
I enjoyed it about 5 years ago at Rio City and believe it or not, I have been craving it again, but haven’t made it back up there. Help!!!
Thanks in advance; you are making a fellow foodie, down here in San Diego, VERY HAPPY!

Hi Sac Foodies,
I love your site and I want to challenge the nine of you to make your way out to Hawks Restaurant in the Quarry Ponds shopping center, in Granite Bay. If you ladies are into casual fine dining (if, hah), you have got to come try the food. We have an array of farm fresh dishes, thirst-quenching cocktails, and a wine list that features some of the “Diamonds in the Rough” of the wine world. I am a server at the restaurant, and if you ask for me, I assure you, you will receive the royal treatment. Even if you don’t ask for me, you will receive the royal treatment. Anyway, best of luck, and I hope I see your names on a reservation list soon.
Thanks, Cody.

I read about your group in last Weds food section. Sounds like a real fun group. I am a commercial salmon troller who lives in Loomis but fishes out of SF. My wife and I sell our fish at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Mkt. Salmon season is closed this year so we have morphed our business plan to sell the best seafood abailable. We currently sell over 20 different kinds of fish and shellfish. We try to cover all price points from sardines, sand dabs, whole rock cod to grade 1 ahi, kanpachi or hiramasa (hamachi substitutes) to Teramoto sashimi grade scallops. What I was thinking – if your group wanted to visit the market – maybe you already have – is that we could give you a tour of some of the vendors both at the farmners market inside the building. The market is Sats from 8-2. We would recomment taking Amtrak which drops you off right in front of the Ferry Bldg. We’ve done this with some of our friends and they’ve had a great time and were amazed at the qualitiy of products.

Larry,
I’m a Bay Area-based team member of Sac Foodies. I work out of Fleishman-Hillard’s San Francisco office and I’d LOVE to take you up on your offer, along with one of the original Sac Foodies, Amy Jackson, who has also moved to SF. I’ll email you directly to set up a date!

I’m coming to Sacramento Thursday night thru Sunday for a little business. I’m looking for one great place to take someone for business and many good places to try that a single gal won’t feel odd at eating alone since I know no one out there! I love all food. Bring it ON!
I’ll be doing a trunk show at The Village Hat Shop on Sunday, midday and should be on your local TV station Saturday morning to talk about it! Other than that i want to eat, knit, shop and explore!
Any suggestions?
Thanks!!

Hi Kimberli -
So glad you asked! I think for business Il Fornaio is always delicious and classy – or if you aren’t picking up the tab, try the Waterboy for some of the best food in town! Or the Tower Cafe is a Sacramento landmark that always serves up reliable fare.
As for a single gal out on the town, I think you could have a great “fancy Mexican food” meal at Zocalo (and a great margarita!) and probably sit at the bar to eat if you wanted. Another fun place is Tapa the World because you can try a few different dishes.
Wherever you end up dining, be sure to let us know! Enjoy Sacramento!

Hi Lee – If one of us is in Roseville, we’ll have to check out Tres Agaves – thanks for the tip!
