As hard as it is sometimes to travel for work, I always look forward to my trips to New York City. And there is always plenty to look forward to, especially in the food department.
Recently, I traveled to NYC for our client, Mirassou Winery, to coordinate a dinner we held at Colicchio & Sons. (Yep, the famed restaurant owned and operated by Top Chef Judge Tom Colicchio.)
From the restaurant to the food, the entire experience was such a pleasure. The talented team at Colicchio & Sons created an incredible menu for us:
Warm yellow fin tuna with egg yolk raviolini & bottarga
Mirassou Sauvignon Blanc
Sweet Maine lobster cockscomb, sorrel & chicken wing confit
Mirassou Pinot Grigio
Poached fluke with sea urchin peeky-toe crab & vin jaune
Mirassou Chardonnay
Hudson Valley rabbit with tiny chanterelles & caramelized yogurt
Mirassou Pinot Noir
Spring baby lamb with morels asparagus & spring garlic
Mirassou Merlot
Roasted sirloin with pipérade & roasted baby leeks
Mirassou Cabernet Sauvignon
Warm chocolate tart with milk chocolate panna cotta & strawberry ice cream
The dishes were complex and the thoughtful wine pairings brought out the best in both. I expected my favorites to be the sweet Maine lobster or the roasted sirloin, so it came as a big surprise that the poached fluke with sea urchin, peeky-toe crab and vin jaune blew me away.
As you can imagine, I was mightily full by the time we finished the dessert course. But, oh, what a happy belly!
Tell me, where do you dream of dining when you’re in NYC?
