This Saturday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., treat the family to all-you-can-eat Baskin Robbins ice cream and Coca-Cola beverages at the 29th Annual Ice Cream Safari hosted by the Sacramento Zoo! From Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup to Mint Chocolate Chip, indulge in 12 of Baskin Robbins most popular flavors in cones, sundaes or floats all while exploring the 14-acre zoo.
The ice cream extravaganza will also include face painting, live music, and an ice cream dance party. Guests can also participate in a “Giraffle” for a chance to win prizes and enjoy veggie burgers and hot dogs for an additional cost.
Priced at $17 for adults and $13 for children ages 2 – 11, tickets include admission into the zoo, full ice-cream-access and unlimited Coca-Cola beverages. All proceeds from Ice Cream Safari will benefit animal care and maintenance of the Sacramento Zoo.

Passport to the Farms Weekend
Looking for a fun way to spend your weekend with family and friends? Try taking an agri-tour along the Sacramento Delta at the Passport to the Farms Weekend this Saturday and Sunday.
Hosted by the Sacramento River Delta Grown Agri-Tourism Association, the tour includes 17 farms and wineries along the river’s Delta Grown Farm Trail. Activities include farm tours, kids’ activities, wine tastings, farm equipment displays, wildlife viewing and fresh produce.
Farms will be open from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, wineries are open from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm and maps are available at all locations. Proceeds from ticket sales will go towards sustaining the local family farms.

4th Annual Sacramento Banana Festival
This weekend marks the 4th Annual Sacramento Banana Festival to celebrate the many ways that cultures across the globe, and right in Sacramento, incorporate this delicious fruit into their food, culture and art. Each year, the two-day event has continued to grow and include new and fun banana attractions for attendees.
The event kicks off on Saturday at 9 a.m. with a Banana Pancake Breakfast at William Land Park, for only $3 a person. There is a long list of bands and performers that are scheduled to perform throughout both the weekend on any one of the three stages at the event.
On Saturday, banana foodies can watch a Chef Challenge featuring cooking demonstrations from some of Sacramento’s most talented chefs. Some other events include a 5K Run/Walk, a Carmen Miranda Hat Contest, a Little Miss and Mr. Banana Pageant and even Banana Limbo to list a few. The event is hosted by the Sojourner Truth Museum which works to provide health, education and wellness services to at-risk youth across the Sacramento region. Off to the Races to Support the Arts and a Giveaway
This August marks the 15th Annual Race for The Arts run, and the premier event, “Off to the Races,” is bound to be a charming celebration of art, wine and great eats from local restaurants. The “Off to the Races” event will take place on Saturday, August 17 from 5:30-8:00 p.m. at the Pavilions on Fair Oaks Boulevard. Guests will be surrounded by the sounds of local musicians and the artwork of Sacramento artist Wayne Thiebaud.

An array of wines available for sampling at the event include Napa Cellars, St. Supéry Vineyards & Winery, Mount Aukum Winery, Sean Minor Wines, Cielo Estate Winery, Barefoot Wines, Heringer Estate Winery, and Lava Cap Winery. What a list! A few of the restaurants that will be in attendance include Ruth’s Chris Steak House, Fabian’s Italian Bistro, Florez Bar Grill, Monsoon Cuisine of India, The Mandarin, Raley’s Fine Foods, Café Bernardo, Starbucks, Roxy’s Restaurant & Bar and Sutter Street Steakhouse. We also hear that Capital Confections is planning to sample their award-winning gelato!
