By Vanessa Sapino and the SacFoodies Team
You certainly get the SacFoodies’ attention when you add some seasonal flare to a traditional Chinese food menu. So on a recent fall day, the group got together for a long-overdue group tasting at P.F. Chang’s to test out their new fall menu:
- Crispy Korean Chicken Wings
- Shanghai Waldorf Salad
- Miso Chicken
- Citrus Mustard Prawns
- Harvest Vegetable Quinoa “Fried Rice”
- Vietnamese Noodles with Steak & Shrimp
- Caramel Apple & Pumpkin Wontons
- We hear they have Apple Cinnamon Martinis and a Ginger Jalapeño Mule & Rum Chata drink on the menu as well…
When it comes to chain restaurants, we all have our favorite menu items – you know, the mainstays you look forward to ordering because you know you won’t be disappointed. Well, at P.F. Chang’s that go-to dish for me and a few other SacFoodies is the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and is a must-have every time I visit. Add a couple orders of wraps to this fall menu and you have a few foodies singing your praises:
Kris on the Miso Chicken: “Miso craving this dish right now! A non-fried chicken option is a welcome addition to any Chinese food menu and this perfectly sauced entrée has lots of yummy vegetables to boot – baby carrots, mushrooms, bok choy and corn.”
Sarah H.’s take on the Crispy Korean Chicken Wings: “If this was my entire meal I would have left more than satisfied! The presentation of this dish was great! It was a fun way to present a chicken wing, especially around the holidays or as an appetizer, that allows for more meat and flavor in each bite.”
Jake was a fan of the Citrus Mustard Prawns: “This dish was delish! Light, yet still packed with flavors, the prawns and fresh veggies paired together perfectly and the zucchini ribbons were an excellent addition.”
Liz went for the Vietnamese Noodles with Steak & Shrimp: “Noodles, steak, shrimp and veggies in a stir-fry-style noodle dish with great flavor. What’s not to love?”
Jenna went for seconds on the Harvest Vegetable Quinoa “Fried Rice”: “I’m a big quinoa fan and also love a good fried rice. I thought this dish combined the two nicely, with a fall twist.” This is on their gluten free menu, too.
Sara O. and I liked the Shanghai Waldorf Salad best, but my vote is to add chicken. Here’s what Sarah had to say about it sans chicken: “This yummy mix of kale, apples, grapes and candied walnuts, tossed in miso-lime dressing made for a crisp and surprisingly sweet treat, perfect for fall. It’s a delicious vegetarian option!”
Tricia, our photographer extraordinaire, was a fan of the Caramel Apple & Pumpkin Wontons: “Pie as a finger food? Yes please! These fun-size delights are perfect for sharing and are a great way to end any meal.”
All in all a great fall outing for this bunch. If you haven’t visited P.F. Chang’s lately, it’s time to revisit one of their two convenient locations.
