Hi everyone, and happy 1st day of fall! I’m Gabby, a new member of the SacFoodies team and I can’t wait to share my perspective on all things edible.
For my first SacFoodies post, I thought it fitting to feature something near and dear to my heart: Apple Hill. My grandparents live and have an orchard right in the heart of all the quaint mountain farms, and I have grown up working, playing and (most importantly) eating amongst them all! So, since this last weekend marked the opening for Apple Hill’s 50th Season and my grandpa’s birthday, a trip up the hill was in order!
I couldn't resist stopping at one of my favorite bakeshops –Kids Incorporated – and picking up a piece of French Style Apple Pie à la mode. Okay so maybe that “piece” turned into a whole pie, but it was delicious either way!
Overall, this day trip was a wonderful way to escape the heat of summer, and get ready for the colors and flavors of fall.
What are your Apple Hill favorites?
To plan your own excursion you can get maps and information on the Apple Hill Growers AssociationWebsite, Apple Hill App, or pick up an Apple Hill™ Cider Press at your first stop.
