A Sacramento staple for more than eight years, Roxy Restaurant and Bar is known for its tasty food, stylish décor and popular weekend brunch. However, with the help of Roxy’s new manager (and award-winning mixologist) Chris Rosas, it’s time to add robust happy hour to the list. We were thrilled when Chris personally invited us to try out the new menu that they offer daily from 3-6pm, with an extended offering on Mondays from 3-close (9pm).
Roxy’s happy hour offerings have something for everyone, including small bites, craft cocktails, and dessert. Below is a sampling of the deliciousness that we enjoyed:
Drinks

Roxy’s happy hour offers a variety of craft cocktails, many of which are seasonal, at $2 off the regular price. Of the drinks we sampled, the two standouts were the Harvest Margarita and the Apple Cider Sangria. The Harvest Margarita features a cinnamon sugar rim, tequila, fresh lime, fresh orange juice, and pumpkin spice. The Apple Cider Sangria is made with crisp white wine and features seasonal fruit such as apples and cranberries. Both were the perfect collision of the fall season and an adult beverage. Don’t miss out on these limited-time offerings.
Bites
Zucchini Chips

Amanda: Roxy’s zucchini chips are simply irresistible. Light, crunchy and melt-in-your mouth, these are downright delicious. Not only are they great on their own, they are the perfect accompaniment to any of Roxy’s craft cocktails, wines or beers on tap. The happy hour portion is large enough to share, but trust me, you won’t want to.
Braised Beef and Goat Cheese Stuffed Pepper

Jake: Stuffed peppers are never my first choice, however, I was pleasanty surprised when one of my fellow SacFoodies selected it from the menu. This little number was my standout of all the items we tried, as it was flavorful with just the right amount of spice.

Two Street Tacos of the Day

Jake and Tricia: The street tacos offered during happy hour change daily and just so happened to be Swordfish during our dining experience. The fish was tasty, meaty, and not overly fishy. The chef even provided us with a special avocado sauce that complemented the tacos perfectly.
BBQ Prawns with Cucumber

Tricia: I’m a sucker for seafood, but Roxy’s BBQ Prawns with Cucumber took it to the next level for this enthusiast. These prawns were perfection – tender but still juicy, drizzled in a butter-based sauce and topped with cucumber and basil for a delightful crunch.
Smoked Cheddar Mac N Cheese with Bacon

The loaded Mac N Cheese is made up of creamy cheese, thick cut bacon, a crispy topping and Oreccheitte pasta, making for delicious pockets of cheese. The varying textures of the smooth cheddar and crunchy toppings made for a wonderful combination.
Dessert

We we’re also treated to a S’more-inspired treat and a fresh fruit cobbler featuring apples and strawberries topped with vanilla gelato. All desserts are handmade each morning by their pastry chef and the happy hour menu features a “sweet bite” so that you can enjoy a special treat.
