Here at SacFoodies, we’re finding that one of the best ways to stay on top of local deals and steals is to subscribe to receive e-newsletters from restaurants/establishments/retailers that you’re fond of. Earlier this month, we were reminded of some cool deals from one of the hottest restaurant groups in town via their e-newsletter and want to spread the word!
Each day of the week a different Paragary’s location hosts fantastic happy hour specials, which are listed below. If the low price tags don’t get you excited enough, here are a few pics from my last trip to Centro that are sure to get your mouth watering:
Monday: Margarita Monday featuring two for one House Margaritas at Centro Cocina Mexicana – A perfect way to start the week!
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday at Blue Cue – $2 Domestics and $1 Tacos starting at 6:00pm with live DJ music.
Wednesday: Pint Night at R15 – The only place to be on Wednesday nights…$5 includes your very own R15 pint glass, filled to the brim with your choice of any draft beer and only $2 refills. Bring your glass in next time you come and only pay the cost of refills.
Thursday: Cosmo Cafe – Reviving happy hour with a drinks and eats menu starting at just $3. Available daily from 3:30-5:30pm, featuring an array of small plate food selections ranging from the housemade waffle chips to a half pastrami sandwich. Drink choices include the classic cosmopolitan, domestic beers, and 2 for 1 drink specials.
Friday: Spataro Restaurant and Bar – Check out our $10 Daily Lunch Specials… Each day is a different entree, served with a mixed green salad to start. Friday is Housemade Lasagne. Yum!
Are you a fan of these deals and restaurants? Prove it! You can show your loyalty by becoming a fan of any Paragary’s establishment on facebook, too.

Tightwad Tuesday: Tokyo Fro's Happy Hour
I heart sushi. And when I find a good sushi place, I like to shout it from the rooftops. KRU! MIKUNI! I bet they can hear me all the way in Davis…where I love ZEN TORO! (It’s common knowledge that when you type in all caps it’s yelling, right?)
So what’s the latest sushi spot to which I’ve been referring friends? TOKYO FRO’S! Haven’t heard of it? Well you should check it out, and here’s why: Every weeknight, Tokyo Fro’s offers diners half off sushi rolls and cocktails! And that’s not all – the midtown location, which is situated inside Dream night club on 15th Street, has this happy hour offer from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., so even workaholics can join the fun! Tokyo Fro’s also has a location in Fair Oaks, which boasts happy hour Monday through Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Now it’s confession time. Since discovering Tokyo Fro’s happy hour, I have been three times in three weeks. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried, but have to gush about the Fro So Def roll – it’s to-die-for.
According to a fellow PR pro, @Lesley3fold, the asparagus roll is also amazing. If you’ve been to Tokyo Fro’s, please let us know what your favorite menu item is by leaving a comment below!
Tightwad Tuesday: Happy Hour, Happy Wallet
It’s all over the news: people are eating out less and becoming more conscious of their food budgets. Love a good hamburger but don’t want to break the bank? We have good news that is guaranteed to fit the bill. One of our favorite happy hours (and an FH client, in the interest of full disclosure) is the one held by McCormick & Schmick’s – at which you will find a half-pound cheeseburger for just $1.95!
And that’s not all. If a burger isn’t what you’re drooling over, their happy hour menu includes a wide range of options. From pan-fried mozzarella to spicy chicken quesadilla – there’s something for everyone. My favorite part is that many locations have two happy hours every day; one in the evening right after work, and another from 9:30 to close. It’s probably best to call your local McCormick & Schmick’s for timing and menu details.
If you’re located in our neck of the woods, you have two options nearby:
Roseville
1194 Roseville Parkway
Roseville, CA 95678
Downtown Sacramento
1111 J Street
Sacramento, CA 95814
Business Traveler’s Tip: McCormick & Schmick’s has 94 restaurants throughout North America, so no matter which city you land in, odds are there’s a $1.95 burger with your name on it nearby.
Bon Appétit!
Tightwad Tuesday

Small plate offerings include Smoked Chicken with Chili Aioli, Slow-Cooked St. Louis Pork Ribs, Smoked Salmon Lettuce Cups and Maple Cider Grilled Chicken Skewers.
