The 137th annual Kentucky Derby will be held this Saturday, May 7 and in honor of the big event, we thought we’d share the perfect Mint Julep Recipe!
Mint Juleps are Southern cocktails synonymous with the Kentucky Derby; in fact, almost 120,000 juleps are served at Churchill Downs during the world-famous horse race. For those of you can’t be there but want to share in the festivities, the 137th Kentucky Derby will be shown on NBC at 2:00 PDT. Having a viewing party? Recipe: Mint Julep

Ingredients
- 4 cups bourbon
- 2 bunches fresh spearmint
- 1 cup distilled water
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- Powdered sugar
Instructions
- To highball glass or silver Julep cup, add minted simple syrup, then 1 cup crushed ice, bourbon, and splash of water.
- Add enough of remaining ice to almost fill glass.
- Stir well and garnish with mint sprig.
