Favorite food: I love most foods, but if I had to choose, it would be a rib eye steak cooked at medium rare. I don’t think there’s anything better in the world than a perfectly cooked steak. Throw in sides of garlic mashed potatoes, a caprese salad and a glass of Napa Valley Cabernet and you’ve got yourself a dream meal.

Favorite local restaurants: As a relatively new resident to Sacramento, I’m still exploring the many great food options sprinkled across Sacramento. So far, Cafeteria 15L has been my favorite. The skillets they make on their brunch menu are to die for. You also can’t beat the fried chicken platter at Empress Tavern or a late night slice of cake at Rick’s Dessert Diner.

Earliest food-related memory from childhood: Eating my mom’s exquisite peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in preschool.

Favorite family recipe: We call it “Paso Grandma’s spaghetti”. Every year around Christmas time, my mom makes my great grandmother’s spaghetti recipe, who lived in Pasco, Washington. My mom’s side of the family is very Italian and deeply rooted in tradition, and this is one of the many traditions that has stood the test of time with my mom and her siblings. The dish includes a perfect sauce and gigantic meatballs. It sounds basic, but it tastes like no other pasta I’ve ever had.
