I shared this recipe with fellow Sac Foodies at our anniversary potluck.
Like most of my dad’s recipes, this was adapted from a recipe in an old Bon Appétit magazine. It’s a chunky salsa with a twist – avocado. Don’t be surprised if people are scooping right for the avocado chunks!
4 large tomatoes
3-4 green onions, chopped
1/2 cup cilantro, finely chopped (packed)
2-3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
1-2 jalepenos or Serrano chiles, finely chopped
Salt and pepper to taste
1 avocado, chopped
Add all ingredients except avocado to bowl and stir to combine. Once combined, add avocado and gently stir.
Jordan says
Wow who diced those tomatoes?
Jenna says
Okay – to set the record straight, I must give props to my boyfriend Jordan for chopping all of the salsa ingredients for me. A tip – if you don’t have a Jordan to do your chopping, use a food processor! 🙂
Brittany says
YUM! That looks so good – although I must admit I’d be the first to hog all the avocado to myself!
Maria says
I loved your dad’s salsa!
