Who doesn’t like pizza – bready, cheesy wonder that it is? So, when my book club recently planned our February meeting for the Folsom location of Chicago Fire, I couldn’t wait to tote my camera (in addition to my book) and check it out.
After a thirty-minute wait on a Friday night (they don’t take reservations) and a glass of wine (they have a nice selection of wines by the glass and a separate bar area), we were rewarded with a booth that offered some privacy from other diners. The dark wood and brick interior created a warm atmosphere for us to study the menu and determine our selections.
We were unanimous in wanting to order the thin-crust, Chicago-style pizza, and decided to share a large vegetarian version. After all, Chicago Fire calls itself “THE tribute to Chicago pizza,” and I couldn’t agree more. The pizza was delicious! And so were our salads, which were generously sized and fresh. What impressed me, too, was the tremendous value of the food, which did not break the bank. The salads start at $2.95, and the pizza was reasonably priced, too.
Great food and wine, great discussion and money still left in my wallet – that’s what I call a great night out. I will be heading back for more Chicago Fire.

Hi Maria, Yes, Chicago Fire is definitely one of our favorite pizzas! I think it’s both family-friendly and date-worthy. I agree that the wine selection is good, too. They also serve a pretty decadent brownie dessert pizza with vanilla ice cream on top if there’s ever room for dessert.

Great photos, Maria! I too am a big fan of Chicago Fire. It’s great for larger groups because it’s easy to find at least a few pizzas everyone will like. With the square slices, for some reason it feels like you get a little more, too.

Chicago Fire is easily one of my new favorite places to go. Next time you make it there, I’d suggest trying the hot wings as well. They are offered in 4 different heats being: mild, medium, hot, and extra hot. My personal opinion is that they are the best wings that I’ve had in Sacramento. Often enough, the hot sauce is enough to break me into a sweat as I just visited the gym. The deep dish and stuffed crust pizzas are good as well if you want something more hearty. Not sure about the Folsom location, but the J street location has a very reasonable happy hour as well.
Cheers!
