Love wine? Then this giveaway is for you! The El Dorado Winery Association will have its 19th annual Passport Weekend event April 10-11 and April 17-18.
If you haven’t previously attended Passport Weekend, you’re in for a treat with a weekend full of wine, food, and entertainment. 26 of El Dorado’s foothill wineries will feature gourmet food and wine pairings, library and barrel tastings, and special wine sales. You’ll also enjoy the musical entertainment of local artists at many of the wineries.
Passport tickets are $75 and are good for both days of the weekend selected. If you plan on being a designated driver you can still enjoy food and non-alcoholic refreshments with the purchase of a $25 Passport ticket.
For tickets, event details and a map of participating foothill wineries, visit www.EldoradoWines.org or call 800-306-3956.

Favorite summer pairing? I couple years ago, I had the coolest backyard with a pool. One night, my son was ‘starving’ while we were waiting for the chicken to cook. i put a block of feta in a zip lock bag, added olive oil and a little rosemary, stuck it back in the fridge for about 1/2 hour, then grilled it over ashy coals til warm and a little gooey on both sides. Served with warm roasted garlic on grilled crusty bread, and a Runquist Barbera….heaven….

My favorite “pairing” is opening a good bottle of wine and drinking half of it while you’re waiting for the burgers to grill … yay for summer!

Hands down, it’s a colorful heirloom tomato salad, with mozzarella bocconcini and lots of torn basil, sprinkled with sea salt and good olive oil, paired with a crisp fruity Sauvignon Blanc! I am now very excited for summer eating!

Cream cheese with fresh pesto, sundried tomatoes, and pine nuts over it… served with fresh baked crostini that has been broiled with olive oil, sea salt and pepper. Serve it with a cold Duckhorn

Warm weather … bring it on! Apple Stuffed Chicken Breasts with a reduced Brandy Apple Glaze (Apples from Apple Hilll of course) hand made by yours truly and paired with a sweet crisp Boeger White Riesling. I don’t get to make it out of the cold weather too often up in Lake Tahoe and just discovered the Sac Foodies Blog. Glad to become a Sac Foodies FB fan and hoping for the chance to experience my first ever passport weekend!
