Here at SacFoodies, we’re finding that one of the best ways to stay on top of local deals and steals is to subscribe to receive e-newsletters from restaurants/establishments/retailers that you’re fond of. Earlier this month, we were reminded of some cool deals from one of the hottest restaurant groups in town via their e-newsletter and want to spread the word!
Each day of the week a different Paragary’s location hosts fantastic happy hour specials, which are listed below. If the low price tags don’t get you excited enough, here are a few pics from my last trip to Centro that are sure to get your mouth watering:
Monday: Margarita Monday featuring two for one House Margaritas at Centro Cocina Mexicana – A perfect way to start the week!
Tuesday: Taco Tuesday at Blue Cue – $2 Domestics and $1 Tacos starting at 6:00pm with live DJ music.
Wednesday: Pint Night at R15 – The only place to be on Wednesday nights…$5 includes your very own R15 pint glass, filled to the brim with your choice of any draft beer and only $2 refills. Bring your glass in next time you come and only pay the cost of refills.

HOT ITALIAN Love is in the Air
Every once in a while, a new restaurant comes to town that is so good you just can’t stop buzzing about it. And not just in the “ooh that place looks good” or “I’ve really been meaning to go” kind of way. But more the “ohmygoodnessihavetohaveitrightnow” sort of buzz. So I think it’s time that we admit it:
The SacFoodies are head over heels for HOT ITALIAN. And now that we know they serve some of the best dessert in town, we’re sure this relationship has “forever” written all over it. Have a sweet tooth like us? Check out some of their mouthwatering desserts below:
Zucchero
organic Italian chocolate hazelnut spread dusted with powdered sugar
Murino
gorgonzola dolce cheese, pears drizzled with honey
Lenti
seasonal mixed berries topped with fresh ricotta and drizzled with extra virgin olive oil
And if that’s not convincing enough, here are our top 10 reasons to love HOT ITALIAN:
Uno: It’s so authentic that you simply can’t fight the urge to belt out any Italian you know: mangia, cara amici, mangia!
Due: Where else can you pick up a motorcycle with your pizza?
Tre: Communal seating is a great way to make new friends.
Quattro: Because they give you the scoop on their upcoming events on Twitter
Cinque: They’re open late! Call for exact hours, but word on the street is that they serve until 10:00 or 11:00 PM on weeknights and stretch that until 12:00 PM or 1:00 AM on Friday and Saturday nights!
Sei: Because there is nothing like a real Italian espresso.
Sette: Who can resist a giant round party table with space in the center for ice to keep your drinks chilled to perfection?
Otto: Orange chocolate, Madagascar vanilla and nocciola (hazelnut) gelato – oh my!
Nove: Because the modern decor and traditional fare instantly transport you to a corner cafe in a bella piazza.
Dieci: Because gorgonzola, pear and honey on a pizza can never be wrong.

Tightwad Tuesday: Some Deals are Just Too Good to Pass Up
Sometimes I’m selfish, I’ll admit it. Like when I find a great deal and feel as though it’s such a steal that the secret must be kept, never to be shared to anyone outside of my immediate circle. But these days, everyone could use a tip about a good deal. So I’m shedding my selfish ways and sharing:
KTXL FOX 40 has teamed up with local business to offer amazing deals on gift certificates valued at more than double the buying price!
For example, just visit http://www.ktxl.incentrev.com/ to purchase a $50.00 gift certificate to L Wine Lounge for only $25.00 or a $50.00 gift certificate to Aura for only $16.50. But you’ll have to hurry, because quantities are limited and I may just buy them all myself!
Have another money-saving tip in Sacramento? Come on, share your secret . . .
Try this Thai
As a former Davis resident, I find a strange sense of pride as great new restaurants and shops continue to populate the downtown landscape. One of Davis’ newest additions caught my eye recently when a friend described it as “Thai restaurant by day, club by night.” A nightclub in Davis? It can’t be so.
But it is! Perhaps more exciting than the fact that Ketmoree keeps Davis’ blood pumping into the late night hours with a stylish bar and DJ is the fact that the food there is really, really tasty! I first dined at Ketmoree for lunch over a month ago and have literally craved the Spicy Tome Kah (Coconut soup with mushroom, green onion, and cilantro) ever since.
My dining partner in crime (aka my Mom) also treated me to the 2K Thai Lettuce Wraps which were equally tasty with a light and refreshing profile.
Lastly, we feasted on the Yum Nua (Grilled beef tenderloin, red onion, green onion, cilantro pitched with a mild lime dressing). How could we not order something with “yum” in the name? It certainly lived up to our expectations.
Shh! Don’t tell anyone, but rumor has it that plans are in the works for a Ketmoree in Sacramento too! An insider told us that we’re still a good one or two years away from that, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed in the meantime.

Tightwad Tuesday: Tokyo Fro's Happy Hour
I heart sushi. And when I find a good sushi place, I like to shout it from the rooftops. KRU! MIKUNI! I bet they can hear me all the way in Davis…where I love ZEN TORO! (It’s common knowledge that when you type in all caps it’s yelling, right?)
So what’s the latest sushi spot to which I’ve been referring friends? TOKYO FRO’S! Haven’t heard of it? Well you should check it out, and here’s why: Every weeknight, Tokyo Fro’s offers diners half off sushi rolls and cocktails! And that’s not all – the midtown location, which is situated inside Dream night club on 15th Street, has this happy hour offer from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., so even workaholics can join the fun! Tokyo Fro’s also has a location in Fair Oaks, which boasts happy hour Monday through Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Now it’s confession time. Since discovering Tokyo Fro’s happy hour, I have been three times in three weeks. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried, but have to gush about the Fro So Def roll – it’s to-die-for.
According to a fellow PR pro, @Lesley3fold, the asparagus roll is also amazing. If you’ve been to Tokyo Fro’s, please let us know what your favorite menu item is by leaving a comment below!
