10 Things You Don’t Know About…
- My favorite meal is hot dogs and baked beans. I also love sliced hot dogs mixed into baked beans (what I like to call beans and weenies). So first things first, now you know how classy I am.
- I’m originally from the Bay Area. I’ve lived in Santa Clara, San Jose, Campbell, Willow Glen, Milpitas, Los Gatos, Redwood City and San Francisco. I’ve lived in Sacramento for a little over a year and a half now—and I’ve managed to only move once in that time frame!
- I take my coffee with butter and MCT oil. See my SacFoodies post about Bulletproof Coffee and you’ll understand why.
- My dad and I share joint custody of my dog, Zoey. It sounds strange, and it probably is! It’s hard not to love my bossy, spoiled little American Eskimo/Pomeranian mix. We each take her for a few weeks at a time.
- I have a bachelor of science in agricultural business marketing. Part of my education included planting veggies and fruits, harvesting chickens (I actually hid in the bathroom for this part) and catching bugs. Go Mustangs!
- Snapchat is my latest obsession. I don’t know what took me so long to get on board. I will never get tired of sending and receiving photos of double and triple chins. Now you also know how mature I am.
- Cooking is not my forte, eating out is. Sure, I like to cook a meal here and there, but trying new restaurants is truly my thing. The “I’m new to Midtown” excuse will never expire, right?
- I was a caretaker for a year. The day after graduating from Cal Poly SLO, I moved in with my grandpa (who was diagnosed with sarcoma) to be his full-time caretaker. I’m proud to say that I temporarily got over my fear of blood and needles. Also proud that my “Papa” is very healthy now!
- Potatoes, grapes, pistachios and wine are always on my mind. I’m lucky enough to have a client mix ranging from fruits and vegetables to nuts and booze. All that’s missing is beef jerky. Call me.
- I have two brothers under the age of seven. There is Connor (7) and Dylan (4). They are the most loving, hilarious and intelligent little dudes and I can’t imagine life without them!

Café Dantorels
Having lived in Land Park for well over 7 years now, I’m a little embarrassed that it’s taken me this long to try Café Dantorels in neighboring Curtis Park. This café has been on my “to try” list for years and I finally had just the right opportunity to walk over on a recent Saturday for lunch.
Entering the restaurant, I was surprised by the large space and abundance of seating options, both indoors and out. We ordered at the counter, grabbed our number, snagged a sunny patio table and settled in.
I enjoyed the Amsterdam Chicken Burger which came complete with all the fixins’ including cheddar cheese and bacon – plus a side of fries, of course. My dining companion was in a brunch mood and selected the Athens Scramble with spinach, mushrooms, onions and feta cheese, along with house potatoes and toast on the side.
The meals hit the spot and the ambiance was perfect for a leisurely Saturday afternoon meal. We walked back to Land Park with bellies full. I’ll definitely be returning to Dantorels in the near future!

10 Things You Don’t Know About…
Any US Weekly fans out there? Yeah, us too. The tabloid’s “25 Things You Don’t Know About Me” is one of our faves. We thought it would be fun to do a little riff off that, as a way to get to know the names behind the SacFoodies on a personal level. Some stuff will relate to food, some not. Either way, here we are… and I’m up first!
- I’m one of the original SacFoodies and I’ve never lived in Sacramento. When I joined FH Sacramento 9 years ago I lived in Lodi (cue your favorite CCR song), and then Davis for 6 years. Now, I work remotely from Sonoma County, specifically Windsor. I affectionately refer to my office as FH Sonoma County.
- Family of four. On Sacfoodies we don’t really talk about our family life. Well, I have one, and it’s quite busy! My husband’s a firefighter with CalFire, so my job is to juggle his ever-changing work schedule with mine, plus throw two littles in the mix: Kenley (4) and Warren (1). It’s a good time.
- I hate being cold. Like waaaay more than the average person. Misery.
- My retirement plan includes living in a van down by the river. My husband and I have an ‘86 VW Westfalia camper van. These days we go on camping trips with our family but we dream of selling our home and traveling the country gypsy-style once we retire. We have the van, show me the river!
- Wine is in my blood. My whole family is in the wine industry: my brother is an assistant winemaker for a winery in Napa, my parents are grape growers (Chardonnay!) and I work for FH’s food and wine group. It’s a family affair.
- Beer is in my heart. Don’t get me wrong, I love wine, live in wine country, it’s my world. But I have a special place in my heart for craft beer and beer culture.
- I’m a country girl. I grew up on property in the outskirts of Sonoma Valley – grapes, cows, pigs, horses, rabbits, you name it. I roamed free and built tree forts most of my childhood. Now I raise my children on 2 acres in the country just outside of Windsor.
- Cooking is my getaway. It’s my “me” time. Cooking, baking, meal planning I love it all. Except for grocery shopping, that’s a chore. You gotta draw a line somewhere, I guess.
- My favorite music genre is early ‘90s country. The Judds, George Strait, Brooks & Dunn… I get so happy listening to those artists. Country music is just different these days.
- I can sing every word to several Snoop Dogg songs. And Warren G and Nate Dogg. I might have been into gangsta rap when I was in middle school. Annnd, I still kind of like it.
