King of Feasts Ticket Giveaway!
Love animals? Love a party? Then make sure to stop by the 10th Annual Sacramento Zoological Society King of Feasts Food and Wine Luau on Saturday, June 25. The luau-themed party, which begins at 6:00 pm, will have fabulous food and drink, a silentauction, live music, a hula hoop contest and, of course, lots of adorable animals!
As you walk through the Sacramento Zoo, sample a wide selection of mouthwatering cuisine from area restaurants, such as 4th Street Grille, Cupcake Craving, Grateful Bread, Kru Restaurant, Mulvaney’s B&L and Pyramid Alehouse.
Many area wineries and breweries, including Boeger Winery, Heringer Estates Winery, Hoppy Brewing Company, River City Brewing Company, and Twisted Rivers Wines will be providing beverages.
Eat and drink your way through the Sacramento Zoo all while enjoying the sounds of Hawaii provided by Na Aikane Ukulele Club. Then, watch the dancers of Hula Event and Kaulumele Polynesian Dance Group as they spread the aloha spirit throughout the Zoo. Or, head over to the silent auction to bid on some fabulous items. And don’t forget to test your hula hoop skills in the much-anticipated Adult Hula Hoop Contest!

Father’s Day Foodie Event Round-up
Dad. Father. Pops. Gramps. Daddy. Whatever you call him, he’s your old man and this Sunday is Father’s Day.
Here are a few events happening around Sacramento that can spice up your Dad’s day and help you celebrate together.
Father’s Day Barbecue at Ten22, Sacramento
Ten22 is celebrating Dads by offering a $15 special meal created by Chef Jay Veregge. Offerings include a choice between braised beef brisket, sausage links and grilled chicken breast and all options come with potato salad, pinto beans and corn on the cob. Also happening this weekend is the PGA US Open, which you can watch on the big screens at Ten22. To top it off, happy hour prices are available on Saturday and Sunday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m, while you watch the Open of course.
Morton’s The Steak House, Sacramento
This delectable steakhouse offers a special three-course meal that includes an appetizer, entrée and dessert for $69 per person. Entrée items include Filet Mignon, New York Strip Steak, Cajun Ribeye Steak, Broiled Salmon Fillet and Chicken Christopher.
The Firehouse Restaurant, Old Sacramento
The Firehouse Restaurant in Old Sacramento is must-do for Fathers who crave the stuffed polenta or the Wild King salmon. Also featured is the Artisan Cheese Plate with fromage from three different countries.
Il Fornaio, Roseville
Does your Dad love Italian? Take him to Il Fornaio in Roseville (there’s also a location in Sacramento) where he can get a special lunch or brunch a la carte. We thought so. Never fear, there’s a 5k happening in Roseville you can join in on, so no worries about your waistline.
Father’s Day 5k Run For Families,Roseville
Taking place in Roseville, this fundraiser takes course-goers through the Miner’s Ravine Trail and raises money for the Sacramento Areas Emergency Housing Center, which is one of the only shelters in the area that allows the entire family to stay. The race begins and ends in Sculpture Park. For more information, click here.

Raley's Grape Escape
Mark your calendar and plan to join us for the 9th annual Raley’s Grape Escape on Saturday, June 4th from 4pm to 7pm at Cesar Chavez Park in downtown Sacramento!
More than 100 wineries and restaurants will be participating in this dynamic presentation of Sacramento’s vibrant vinicultural and culinary scene. Two hundred wines will be available for tasting from El Dorado, Yolo, Sacramento, Placer, San Joaquin, Amador, Calaveras and Nevada counties as well as a variety of menu items from some of Sacramento’s best restaurants, such as House Kitchen & Bar, Mulvaney’s B&L, and McCormick & Schmick’s.
The all-inclusive event ticket costs $40 in advance and $50 at the door. Sac Foodies tip: you can save $5.00 per ticket by purchasing your tickets at any Sacramento area Raley’s or Bel Air stores!

Memorial Day Events in Sacramento
Looking for things to do around town to celebrate Memorial Day? From music to fitness to good old fashion grilling, the SacFoodies have you covered!
The Sacramento Jazz Festival and Jubilee will be buzzing in Old Sac and Downtown throughout the holiday weekend. One of the biggest festivals of the year, the schedule of events include, colorful parades along streets lined with jazz fans of all ages, a swing dance contest, Sunday morning gospel sets, Memorial Day “Salute to Service” and, of course, jazz music of all types at various venues around town. The Jazz Festival and Jubilee is lively way to spend the holiday!
If jazz isn’t your thing, head to Roseville for some healthy celebrating. The 2011 Roseville Memorial Day 10K/5K Run & Walk will be held on May 30th beginning at 9 a.m. The course is run on the paths of Maidu Park in Roseville. The registration fee is $40 on race day. Looking for something fun for the whole family? Head to Cal Expo for the 2011 Sacramento County Fair. The fair runs from May 26th through May 30th. The Sacramento County fair is the little brother to the California State Fair, but still has all your favorites, like animals, midway rides, and carnival games. Tickets are just $5 for adults and kids under 12 are free!
