We just learned about this great deal today and couldn’t resist sharing it with you as a day-early Tightwad Tuesday. Paragary’s Bar and Oven is offering a three course meal for just $20! But you’ll have to hurry because the offer is only good through this Wednesday the 20th. All you have to do to take advantage of this special is call the restaurant for a reservation at 916-457-5737 and mention the code “iEat.” It’s that simple! We’ve tried many Paragary’s restaurants but haven’t had a chance to review Paragary’s Bar and Oven on Sac Foodies yet – so we’d love to hear about your meal if you take advantage of this great deal!

Tightwad Tuesday: Tokyo Fro's Happy Hour
I heart sushi. And when I find a good sushi place, I like to shout it from the rooftops. KRU! MIKUNI! I bet they can hear me all the way in Davis…where I love ZEN TORO! (It’s common knowledge that when you type in all caps it’s yelling, right?)
So what’s the latest sushi spot to which I’ve been referring friends? TOKYO FRO’S! Haven’t heard of it? Well you should check it out, and here’s why: Every weeknight, Tokyo Fro’s offers diners half off sushi rolls and cocktails! And that’s not all – the midtown location, which is situated inside Dream night club on 15th Street, has this happy hour offer from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m., so even workaholics can join the fun! Tokyo Fro’s also has a location in Fair Oaks, which boasts happy hour Monday through Saturday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Now it’s confession time. Since discovering Tokyo Fro’s happy hour, I have been three times in three weeks. I’ve loved everything I’ve tried, but have to gush about the Fro So Def roll – it’s to-die-for.
According to a fellow PR pro, @Lesley3fold, the asparagus roll is also amazing. If you’ve been to Tokyo Fro’s, please let us know what your favorite menu item is by leaving a comment below!
Tightwad Tuesday: IKEA
All right, we know what you’re thinking. “What is a giant furniture store like IKEA doing on Sac Foodies?” However, the IKEA enthusiasts out there know the low-price Swedish furniture retailer is more than just a place to find a desk lamp for $8 – it’s also a place where you can score some real deals on good food. And we challenge you to not feel even the slightest pang of hunger after successfully navigating those winding corridors in the showroom.
With entrée prices that struggle to reach the $9 level, the IKEA Restaurant on the second floor is a Tightwad Tuesday dream come true. Probably the best deal is reserved for the morning hours, when you can get a breakfast of eggs, bacon and home fries for just $0.99. That may very well be the best breakfast deal in town!
IKEA veterans know the best time to beat the crowds is to shop on a weeknight. If you’re there on a Wednesday after 4:00 p.m., you can get a half rack of baby back ribs, fries and corn bread for a mere $7.99. They also have vegetarian options like the Organic Pasta for only $1.99. Of course, if you want to go old school IKEA, you must try their famous Swedish meatballs. For only $4.99, you get 15 meatballs, mashed potatoes and lingonberry sauce.

Tightwad Tuesday: 31 Cent Scoop Night at Baskin-Robbins
The Delta Breeze may have blown away last week’s record-breaking high temperatures, but that doesn’t mean a return to more spring-like weather will be a reason for the Sac Foodies to miss out on the chance to have some Baskin-Robbins ice cream at a fraction of the regular price. Stop by any Baskin-Robbins store on Wednesday, April 29 from 5:00 – 10:00 p.m. and enjoy a 2.5-ounce scoop of ice cream or 3-ounce Soft Serve for just 31 cents. As part of the promotion, Baskin-Robbins will donate $100,000 to the National Volunteer Fire Council’s National Junior Firefighter Program, which engages youth and encourages them to become members of the emergency services. Be sure to arrive early, as we’ve been told the line for 31-cent ice cream tends to get long.
If one scoop isn’t enough for you, not to worry – Baskin-Robbins says you can get up to three at a time, and yes, you can get back in line for seconds. For more information on the 31 Cent Scoop Night, go to the Baskin-Robbins website or stay up to date with the latest breaking ice cream news by following them on Twitter.
If you can’t make Wednesday’s 31 Cent Scoop Night but are still on the hunt for some budget-minded ice cream, some Baskin-Robbins stores also offer scoops of ice cream for $1 on Tuesday nights from 6:00 p.m. to close. You might find one of us taking advantage of this deal at the downtown Davis or East Sacramento locations, but not all stores participate in this offer so it’s best to find your local store and call before venturing out.

Tightwad Tuesday: Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day
Are you planning on bringing your daughter or son to work with you this Thursday? If so, consider taking your child out for a “business lunch” at McCormick & Schmick’s (one of our clients). This Thursday, all school-aged children dining with their parent at any McCormick & Schmick’s restaurant in the country will get a free lunch in support of the national “Take Our Daughters & Sons to Work Day!
Children will be able to order from the daily printed menu which features the signature “Fresh List” highlighting fresh seafood selections, pastas, salads and sandwiches. At 1:00 p.m., McCormick & Schmick’s will host a “Seafood Show & Tell” that provides an opportunity for children at the restaurant to learn more about different seafood species.
If you’re local, you can visit the Sacramento McCormick & Schmick’s located at 11th and J Streets or the Roseville location at 1194 Roseville Parkway. Or, visit www.McCormickandSchmicks.com to see more restaurant locations.
